I see a few around here that are not addressed in this post.

civi (it is used when describing sway bars)

                        P72 , P79 (describing a model of car)
Aero / Whale ( I get that it is the newer cars.. but why these names)

Thanks for hosting my lack of knowledge.

                          Civi - Civilian Vehicles
Mang - Another word for man
P72, P71, etc - Ford's designations for each model, for example P71 would be a Police interceptor
                          Aero - 1992-1997 ( I think?)
                          Whale - 1998+ ('')
                          '97 Cadillac Catera - 3.0 DOHC V6, 75k

                            OK so Aero is '92-'97
                            and Whale is '98+

So I assume Box is pre-'92???

Where do the aero and whale names come from?

If this all is true then a driver of a '90 TownCar would go to the box section since it has a 302 and go to the Aero section for body issues. Does this sound right?

aero comes from the "aerodynamic" design. I'm not sure about the whale. box is 79-91. 78 and older are referred to as barges due to being that much bigger.

Not sure about the Lincoln stuff.
