    Neums' 1986 Chicago PD project

This is the 1986 police package LTD Crown Victoria I just bought to restore as a Chicago Police car. It will be used in parades and car shows. The car is a rust free North Carolina 351ci police package that was owned by a school district (probably piggybacked on a municipal bid). I will be painting it white and switching the interior from red to blue (I STILL NEED A BLUE STEERING WHEEL WITHOUT CRUISE CONTROL AND DOORPANELS FOR MANUAL WINDOWS & DOOR LOCKS. HELP PLEASE!).

This is what the car will look like when finished:

New dash with police guage pack and CPD radio delete plate:

Mars lightbar and siren box to be installed. The siren box fits into the hole in the radio delete plate:

+100 - I'd also keep it as is cosmetically. Paint that nice is hard to come by!

I'll agree with the others, that thing is REALLY nice and unique as it is.

85 4 door 351 Civi Crown Victoria - Summer daily driver, sleeper in the making, and wildly inappropriate autocross machine
160KMs 600cfm holley, shorty headers, 2.5" catted exhaust, 255/295 tires, cop shocks, cop swaybars, underdrive pulley, 2.73L gears.
waiting for install: 3.27's, Poly bushings, boxed rear arms, 2500 stall converter, ported e7's, etc

06 Mazda 3 hatch 2.3L 5AT (winter beater that cost more than my summer car)

I'm in the Chicago, Illinois suburb of Warrenville. I had the car shipped from a used police car dealer in Charolotte, NC. He had a few of these model cars including another '86 which was white with a blue interior, but that one has some mechanical issues and a rusty trunklid. I think he was using these cars for TV and movie rentals. The red car will be restored as a Chicago Police car. I have been planning this project and collecting parts for quite a long time. I really have no use for a red unmarked 1986 police package daily driver. We have a large, closenit group of restored Chicago police car owners in our area who drive in parades and special events that need escorts. There are cars from 1952 - 1976 (soon to be 1986).

Hey, that's really neat. You must be some of guys Tom (twrp72) meets up with? I can definitely see the desire to add an '80s Vic or Diplomat to that group. (assuming Chicago used Diplomats)

No, they never had Diplomats. Just Fords & Chevys in the 80's.

Good to see another car... We are trying to get Jason's car up to speed to bring to Chicago this year... Hopefully will have at least two coming from Florida this year...

The car is beautiful just the way it is...but it will look cool as a CPD squad

Who cares if the factory paint is still shiny, or if it's a unique car just the way it is. Opinions are a dime a dozen on what looks good/unique, and Paint can easily be replaced. Build the car that you want.

Neums: Looks like a great project that you have there, and I'm glad that I was able to help you out with some of the more hard to find interior parts. Definitely keep us updated.

www.policecarsales.com The owner's name is Buz and he has a nice 1991 police package for sale on the website right now. A 351ci car that was a used by a fire department. He also helped me get a great deal on shipping it here. $500 from Charolotte to my house and it arrived in one day.

This is just some of the restored Chicago cars our group has. Not enough Fords though!

Shot taken at the police memorial next to Soldier Field last summer.
