I was cruising around with my friends last night..and I began to smell gas....So i pulled over checked under the hood but eventually found the problem on the fuel line that rides the frame rail...it was dripping pretty fast and was sprayed all over the joint ...The line was leaking about 7inches from the fuel filter....The only thing i can think of what happened is..yesterday I had the car hand washed and the underframe preassure washed..but that was at 6 and it didnt start leaking untill 1230 that night....ugh...and now the mechanic I usually take it too dosent want to touch it...so I called my friend at the stealership and there going to look at it tommarrow and maybe splice it, but they have to look at it first...any advice mangs.... I appreciate the help

It should be a relatively simple fix. No more difficult than brake lines. If your only other option is the dealer, I'd save a couple hundred and DIY.

It sounds like its in a an easy spot to splice in a new line... being up north they probably do them all the time. Your usual shop sounds like they are either scared of a challenging job or have too much gravy work to trifle with a 'challenge'...Pete ::::>>> resident LED addict and CFI defector LED bulb replacements

If the line is bad enough that pressure washing it makes it brake, its all shot. Replace it now before it breaks and sprays on the exhaust or something.86 Lincoln Town Car (Galactica).

You can buy fuel line in bulk just like brake line... you dont need pre-made pieces... any line can be fixed. They are just getting you ready for the huge bill, because yes things like to break during the repair. Thats why you usually wind up replacing everything!Pete ::::>>> resident LED addict and CFI defector LED bulb replacements

+10 on the above. A roll of aluminum line is around $25 from Summit, and is very easy to work with. All you'll need is a double-flare tool, a tubing bender (maybe), and misc. fittings (usually available at NAPA) to adapt to the stock high-pressure rubber lines.2012 Mazda5 Touring | Finally working on the LTD again!

5/16" steel line in bulk is what you need
5/16" high pressure fuel hose
high pressure fuel clamps
you can save the fittings, just cut the plastic fuel line off of the fittings
