I know I also have a decent set of bezels Nick gave me that are the painted inserts. I got the ‘87 with full chrome ones installed. I don’t know if he ever changed them out himself though.

To add to this discussion, my 87 CV had the painted (And that odd spaced MGM bumper used in some 87 CV). My 82 had the chrome (and a correct bumper lol). Chrome for the win. Correct bumper for the win too.

NOS FORD D9AZ-17C830- D 1979-1980 LTD REAR BUMPER INSERT PAD strip station wagon

Guess this would be kinda hard to find if it is wagon specific to their wide rears.

Now THAT is quite a find. Not a bad price, either.

They're smoking crack on the price though.

It is priced about $3,000 more than what it cost new in "82. With inflation, it might be equal now. Still too much.

1979 Mercury Marquis Front Bumper Ford NOS Part # D9MY17757C

Id be careful picking up this one. It looks really really rough. A lot of pitting that will never clean up fully. I wouldnt want to pay more than u pull junkyard price for something this beat up. Just look at the lack of care taken in the photos. Just placed on dirt and rocks to take pictures.

The plastic covering some of the grille is interesting. Looks factory. Seller is from Minnesota. Possibly to block some air from radiator so car can heat up in cold winters? Thoughts?

Gotta wonder if that shrouding was a cold weather option. I think the portion where its fully open is where the transmission cooler would usually sit on an equipped car, so it would make sense to leave that opened up a bit more.

Probably something you'd get automatically if you optioned your car with a block heater?

That is the first time I have noticed that air block on a Ford. I have an ordering book in the archives. If I have the time, I can look up what comes with the block heater/ winter package.
