Right, I take the same attitude: it all does even out in the end. That's why when you search ebay for "price low to high" (or sometimes high to low, to weed out the chotchkies that pop up no matter the search terms, like porn pops up when researching engines), ebay lists the total cost, always.
What DOES piss me off... I was looking for a tachometer, and saw a listing with an auto meter tach, oil pressure, voltmeter, and temperature gauge all new... starting price still at $6 and change. I know it will go up from $6, but maybe I'll steal them for $60 tomorrow ...and then I see that the bastard is charging $180 shipping.
I know why they do it. Ebay charges a % of the final selling cost, but does not charge that % on shipping since ostensibly that's not a profit source for the seller. So by charging $6 + $180 shipping the seller can save a few dollars on ebay's fees.
Not that I have any love for ebay, but that's just sleazy; and not even that I'm against all sleaze, but it crosses lines for me. $18 for shipping? And maybe it costs him $10? Ok, cool, he makes $8 to cover his time-- but when the entire worth of the item is plowed into shipping fees I won't bid, on principle.Comment
