Also, I'm like, really good at pulling the trans out of this thing.
Last time I did it, it only took 2 hours.

I've gotten good at things I don't want to be good at. There was a time when I could do a 302 water pump in less than 2 hours.

Yeah, I pulled it out in less than 2 hours last night.
I was making good progress, so I decided to at least get the new one bolted in.
I forgot how much I hate getting these things to line up.
          Fuck this.

If it's like the AOD, (box) caliper slide pins work great for helping get the trans lined up. As long as you get the torque converter lined up right.

Hopefully the new-to-you trans will treat you right.

LoL. You're a better man than me. Wish I could be that confident in ripping something like a trans out and getting another one in there. Yikes.

I have a new jack, and it doesn't move nearly as easy as the old one did. That's what's making this a huge pain in the ass. That, and this is the third time I've done this in 2 years.

Trans is mated. I had to take a break and come back to it. TQ converter, and starter are bolted up. Harness is mounted and connected. I didn't install the cross-member yet, because I need to swap out the filter and pan. It's way easier without the cross-member in the way. Don't worry, the jack it still under there, supporting the back end of the trans.
                  It should be running tonight.

The trans mated? Are you expecting a bunch of little trannys anytime soon?

LOL, mating trannys. There are two in the picture.

I'm only familiar with box trannys. A box cross-member does not get in the way of pan removal and filter change. I've taken the trans in The Ice Car out of a car and put it in three times, but not quite as frequent. 2011 out of dad's '89 MGM into my '89 MGM, 2012 out of my '89 MGM into The Ice Car (also had to install The Ice Car's original trans in my '89, so I guess there was 3 in 2 years), 2017 out of and into The Ice Car to fix leaking flexplate bolts that I didn't put sealant on when I installed the engine in 2016. That cross-member on your Marauder sounds and looks like a bigger PITA than a box. Though '90+ cable shift linkage is a bit easier to deal with compared to '89- rod setup.

Drove it to DC and back. I forgot how much fun it actually is!

Just put new upper control arms in the front and replaced the blower motor resistor.

Plans for the winter include doing the big brake upgrade, replacing the front lower control arms lower it and struts, and relocating the battery to the trunk as a start.
