Anyone every paint their interior vinyl?

I want to repaint my halo headrests and just want to hear some success stories of others who painted their interior. What products did you use, how did it turn out? did you change colors...is so from what to what? Let me know.

A few years ago when I was on the zx2ner.com board (now defunct) I knew a guy who used the 'Krylon for plastic' on his interior panels (I'm not 100% on either hard or soft parts) in his Escort ZX2. I tried to find anything on it but came up with nothing. If I recall correctly he used red and black which looked pretty sharp in his car but, I lost touch with the guys and all after I sold my ZX2.
So my best advice is to find a similar part in a salvage yard and test the paint on that. It may work it may not.

I converted the entire interior of my truck with vinyl dye spray paint. The stuff I used looks great as long as you don't put it on an area that flexes too much. I've found that after using this stuff on my truck's arm rest, one of them is beginning to crack open and flake off despite the can specifically saying "Won't crack, fade, or flake!"

If you do put it on something that flexes much, I'd suggest looking online for a true vinyl dye. Rather than using spraypaint, that's what I'm going to do for my leather seats. It's a fair amount of work but it's worth it for a color that'll keep.

I used VHT vinyl dye on my old dashboard and it turned out great, but with it being a dash board it didnt flex so I have no idea how well it lasts. The first couple times i wiped it down with protectant and the overspray kept coming off. But after that the color stayed put

Plastikote. I would assume it would work great on a dashboard. I've yet to do mine.

There's a guy I found on eBay who had gone all black on the interior of his '83 Fox wagon. Looked quite good in pictures ... have to see if I still have his info ....

At the suggestion of mrltd, I painted the black plastic strips on my bumpers with Krylon Fusion flat balck. They came out great, and they still look like they did when I first did them a year ago.

You have to get the surface really clean, though.
