You need to make sure that you don't now possess a dry-sump block.....

There are specific blocks for use with a dry-sump system? Does it basically just use different oil inlet routing?

        Yes, and yes/no.

Check out a Ford Motorsport catalog sometime, and look at the blocks available. It seems like there were a few 8.2" deck units with dry-sump oiling.

My auto machinist is currently working on a 410" windsor stroker for a customer's '67 Mustang. It uses an aluminum block from World Products, which he purchased from a dealer on Long Island. He has returned the block twice because the cam bore alignment has been "unusable" in his opinion. World has obliged him on both occasions, which means there had to have been some merit to his claims.

This guy does alot of really high end stuff (from trophy truck to sprint car engines), so I tend to believe he knows what he's doing. He said most aftermarket blocks require alot of work to make ready. They are not simply ready to go when its delivered to your house.

Congrats on the purchase, but be advised of this.

I'd rather unload the aluminum block, and build yourself a decent iron bottom end.

Came across this dyno sheet today, and thought it may be pertinent to this thread so i figured id post it. Should be a rough ballpark of where you could be with this.

                  This is a 347
                  Eagle forged 4340 crank
                  eagle H beam rods
                  JE flat top pistons
                  10 to 1 compression
Camshaft innovations cam shaft and valve train.
                  AFR 185 heads untouched
                  Edelbrock rpm 2 intake
                  75 mm throttle body

with a small procharger p600b at 10 psi
Due to the compression the timing is at19 degre max
                  all on 91 octane, also.

                  Yes, that is rwhp.
