    Brake system specifications

I've been collecting brake system information for my own research purposes, and I figured I'd share them here. This is a closed post, but if you have information that you feel belongs here, please post it in a new thread, and it will be merged in if appropriate. I would like to limit information to known reliable sources, preferably factory shop manuals, but manufacturer specs from reliable sources are also good.

First post, the box brake system. All scans are from the 1986 Body Chassis Electrical manual for Crown VIc, Grand Marq and Towncar. Included are disc brake specs, drum brake specs, information about the valving present in the system, and the proportioning information for the frame mounted valve.

1990s master cylinder and proportioning valve data along with a picture of a 90s master cylinder with the prop valve threaded in. Also, a disassembled 1970s Ford truck combination valve. This is not identical to what exists on the Panther up to 1995, but the basic design is very similar. It is included here for references. The parts marked are as follows:

A- Proportioning Valve: Reduces fluid pressure to rear brakes
B- Metering Valve: Holds off pressure to front discs until slower rear drums can react
C- Bleeder Rod: Must be pulled out when bleeding factory brakes (panther ones push in)
    D- Brake Light Warning Switch
E- Pressure Differential Valve: Senses pressure imbalance

Front rotor data, 1995-97 and 98-02 Info courtesy 2vmodular of p71interceptor.com

also included for comparison's sake, the box front rotor data. 92-94 front rotors should be the same diameter, but they use a seperate hub bearing assembly instead of the integral hub that boxes use. No repacking of bearings on 92+ models.
