    virtual search

Apologies: i posted this in the wrong thread.

i've thought about two versions of this and think it could help consolidate the threads. its basically a virtual search.
The user would be able to pick the engine/suspension/exhaust/tires they wanted and add them to their car.

    Version 1 will be simple:

we'll make this simple and use engines only.

For example: there would be menu. you'd see 3 engine buttons (pics included)

    (efi) (tbi) (carb)

lets say we choose/click the tbi engine button

it will take us to a picture of a tbi engine. a list would be presented with the stock parts and hp

    Now we see

    (budget) (moderate) (expensive) or (custom)

these could be based upon $$, simplicity, or Hp

    we click moderate upgrade.

we see a picture of an upgraded tbi engine:
    lets a 302 tbi lopo

eddy intake manifold, shorty headers, dual exhaust, plugs, dizzy cap, electric fan, rear gear etc.

a picture would be provided. you see at the bottom of the screen the +'s in hp and torque and costs

you could move the cursor on the intake manifold, click it, and it would send you to a link or a search thread with the simular posts.

Long story short its a visual search engine. it might help.
    there's more to it though.

i thought of another version where we could actually start with a stock engine and remove and replace parts. we could create our own engines and critique them. and we could make fun of one another saying which is or isn't budget friendly.

just a thought, maybe a fun way for all of us to collaborate and kill some time.

Interesting idea, but it sounds awfully complicated. Also, some of the combinations that could be created have never been tried, so establishing HP/torque numbers for them would be difficult.

you guys r right. its complex. it was just an interesting thought.
maybe we could something. kinda sort of like when some one wants to purchase a crate engine. for example, you see the picture of the engine with the list of components on there.
kind of like a readers rides but for engines. this could easily help newbs and vets figure out what they want for their car.
it would be an otb for engines.

          just a thought.
