    Rake or No Rake

    A few weeks ago I cracked the valve housing for my air shocks, and it will bleed the shocks to a low level. The car has lost the rake it once had due to the lighter front end and air shock issue. I think I like the level look and know the weight transfer advantage due to the increased softness of the rear shocks. Just curious what yall think as far as having a rake or not.

    I like the rake my wagon cargo coils give my car. Though I do not like how it handles with them. Straight line no problem, but turning sharp and you feel the ass swinging.

            I think front-down vs ass-up rake is ok... ass-up rake was just a phase for me.

              for heaven sake, do not have any rake in the rear. your car must be slammed to the ground...

                I suggest a slight rake, just so the rear doesn't sag too much when you put something heavy in the trunk.
                Owner of the only known 5 speed box wagon with a lift kit.
                AKA, Herkimer the Hillbilly SUV.

                  Ah yeah...didn't think of that...if you are going to be transporting heavy objects, such as large bricks of cocaine, dead bodies, or lots of groceries than a slight rake would be beneficial...

                    Depends.

                    On a car that is lower than stock, I like it level, or with a slight drop in the front.

                    With a lifted truck, I like the rear slightly lower (Cali lean). A leveled truck (raising the front) isn't bad either, as it usually gives the illusion that the front is higher.

                    My truck is leveled via dropping the rear... but the rear is still a little higher than the front. When you lower a truck, it needs to be level, or higher in the rear).

                    Also, I really like the 'pitched' look of straight axle 'Gassers' of the '60s. That is a fine example of when a raised front looks good.

                    So, its a complicated answer from me.

                        slight rake seems to better for handling on the launch off the line in my exp.

                          Cali lean. I like my front a end a little higher than the back. Drives better with no caster don't you know? lol

                              As long as the rear is higher then the front it's all good! If the rear is sagging it makes the car look like it has a full load in it's diaper!

                              For me you can never go too high with the rear of the car.
