And if you want to get real fancy you can tap into the reverse circuit so the mirror will clear when ever you are in reverse so you can see out of it...

wow, i want to do this on my truck too, whats the best car to get a mirror from? i kinda like keeping ford parts on my fords

Honestly, you can find the compass mirrors on a few cars
Grand Marquis and Crown Vics it was an option in the later years. starting in 96.
Some chevy vehicles have them, the Tahoe, the Suburban, Trailblazer have them. Some with and some without the Onstar BS... Lexus cars as well. I was in a Mitsubishi Montero which had both compass and temperature display. The only ones I've seen that have that dumb clip (no allen cap) was the ford cars.

Today was nice out for February so I washed the car waxed it and decided to install the new to me ZX2 wheels and 185/60/15 Hankook tires.

First a look of the car without the click-click-clicking hubcaps:

I actually thought it looked good! But anyways onto bigger and better things.

The new set up including a complete McGuard lug nut kit:

I purchased these wheels from an ebay seller. Like most ebay purchases the item looks better in photos than it does in person. These wheels were compounded, polished and waxed to bring back the shine. I am surprised they came out so good to be honest. When they arrived at my house they were so dull and dead looking.

        Installed on the car:

And some general pics of the car:

It is unfortunate I am so incompetent that I couldn't get a centered shot:

Next project I have in mind is painting the side body moldings, lower front and rear bumper as well as that stripe in the front and rear bumper with Duplicolor bumper coating Dark Charcoal in color. Then peeling on the peeling p.side dew wipe trim molding to reveal the bare aluminum and paint it with Duplicolor Trim paint like I did the roof stripes a while back.

Then I want to evaporust the rear drums and caliper paint them as well as the calipers in black (because I have a shit load of cans of it) as well as purchase a hood bug guard shield because I like the way it looks. I also want to install a voltmeter in the car as well as finish off the muffler with a neato oval exhaust tip.

Yes, looks much better. You also have just a great spot to take pictures. My Fiance's Elantra has Hankook tires on it. I'm pretty impressed with them, good traction in just about any conditions and seem to be about half worn with 32K on the odo.

Thanks! I looked up the reviews of these tires on tire rack and they were nearly the best in everything and the most economical. Always good to hear one more confirmation.

Added a stainless steel exhaust tip this morning. Nice oval piece. Was designed for a max 2inch pipe. My exhaust pipe (which is actually the tip of a glass pack muffler) was 2 1/4 OD so some modification was necessary. The piece was designed to clamp around the exhaust pipe and then you slid over the tip and screwed it into place. I just welded the lower fixture to the exhaust pipe and then then drilled two new mounting locations in the tip and secured it into the lower fixture just as it was intended.

                The tip I purchased:

                The result:

Just tucks in deeper than the bumper as I intended it to be:

And a pic of the mounting:

you know what might be kinda cool? if you paint the rear tail lights to look like a whale CV/GM. like, paint the bottom orange strip black. and/or, paint the trunk mounted lenses black too.

Maybe you mean "tint" the lower portion & put amber bulbs in (if it doesn't have them already). I'd only do this with a 3rd spare set of taillights, if he had them.

Niteshades stuff is a possibility down the road.

                      Did some stuff today.

                      ooo Dragon Gauge:

                      Modified for 194 bulb:

                      mmmm Green:

Made a 20 degree angled gauge bezel to make the gauge point towards me.

Used adhesion promoter after a green scotch brite scuffing session. Then Undercoating to get the texture then trim paint for the correct sheen.

Ovaled hole. Easy to cut out though. started with 2" hole saw then demeled out the rest.

                      Installed:

Also washed and waxed etc etc the car:

                      Little night shot:

Really nice, it looks like it came that way from the factory.

Awesome, for a DD. I like how you can just install a gauge(s) the way you want without a hitch.
