My 1994 Ford Escort aka The Trusty Escort

Hey guys..A week back I picked up a 1994 Ford Escort LX model. Has around 52,590 or so miles on it and is in pretty good shape all around. Couple small rust spots near chips and whatnot but overall a pretty nice car. Interior is mint aside from broken lap belt holders.

Today I sanded and polished the headlights, installed a headunit since the original deck did not even have a cassette player, vacuumed out the interior, cleaned the interior glass and all plastics and installed a compass rear view mirror out of a Grand Marquis.

    Some pics

    The outside

    Headlight before

    Headlight/s after

    And some interior shots

I don't have any crazy plans for the car as it is my daily driver but I will definitely be working on the car come summer.

The roof rails need to be refinished...the car needs a clay, compound, polish and wax treatment, all the rubbers need some 303 aerospace protectant and the wiper arms need to be refinished as they are rusty...I also plan to paint an Escort GT grille I have coming my way.

whered the rear view come from?

edit- nvm, yesss i can read, lmao.

i think a saturn vue mirror looks exactly the same but it has a temperature display also. if anyones at a yard with one, grab it. you can use a temp sensor from pretty much anything, fwiw.

      Thanks Rick.
Oh I forgot to mention that I used a radio adapter harness to install the radio. Very very nice to have. Soldered up the headunit harness to the adapter harness last night and installed everything 1,2,3 this morning. The headunit sleeve fits perfectly into the stock radio slot. Really happy with everything so far.

Also the car color is called Light Santa Fe and the car has a 1.9L engine.

What he said. Then select you magnetic zone (I have the Grand Marquis owners manual...it tells you what zone you are in it) then drive around in circles slowly to calibrate it.

In person it is more a dark blue and metallic dark yellow. They are the new style reminiscent of a style some 20+ years ago.

Thanks Gabe. Yep I installed the cable. What a pain that was. I originally picked up an adapter that is a one piece thing that converts rca l, and r to a 3.5mmjack but that stuck out to far from the back of the radio and ended up hitting the heater box so the radio wouldn't sit flush. Had to purchase a regular rca to 3.5mm cable and that just barely fit. Not much room in this little car.

My dad is bugging me about some fog lights...I would need to install an Escort GT bumper though as I dont see anyplace I like to install some fog lights on the stock LX bumper. The Escort GT has provisions for fog lights. Actually the fog lights on my Crown Victoria are from an Escort GT.

                        Example of fog light location:

A nice pair of 5" spot lights in front of the grille would light of things nice. Or four lights if you wanna go for the rally look. :smirk:
