    31x10.50's for a road trip

I was thinking th other night (trouble right) lol. Anyway I think for the trip to Scott fest I am gonna pick up a used pair of 31x10.50's and another pair of wheels and run 31x10.50's on the rear for the road trip there and back. Then switch to my stockers while I am there.

The reason for this being the 4.30 gears. I drove it from Ohio to va with them. But I wouldn't call it fun lol. Anyway my cruising rpm with the stock 27" tall tires is slightly over 2500rpm we will say 2550 at 70 mph. Now with a 31" tire it should drop me down to 2100 at 70mph. I know it doesn't sound like much but 450rpm is a pretty good drop and will at least make the trip bearable.

Can anyone see any problems with this idea? Or should I be good to go?

Yea it's not really that bad of an rpm but with the slp muffs it drones so loud at that rpm it feels like your head is going to explode. 2100 drops it out of the drone and mellows it out alot.

Sounds like a decent plan, to me.

I'd really like to see you and the car come out to SF this year.

Stock ranger wheels work good for them. But they are not gonna want to fit in the trunk when you take them off. Also it may drive a little different. Itll work fine. I actually wish a i had a 4.30 gear with the tire size I run.

Have you considered a metric size? 235-85-16 is a 32" tall tire with less drag if you can find a pair cheap. 16" wheels are pretty damn cheap anymore too.
1992 CVLX. 5.0 HO/GT40P/T5/3.73/trak-lok with bolt ons. 02 front CVPI setup, rear HPP setup, CVPI shocks around, F250 radiator, e-fans, and the power of 3G. 15.92@89mph, 2.4 60', 4700' elevation (5500' DA) with 3.08 open rear and the old oil chugging 289. RIP.

My buddy has some 16" conquest wheels I could use for free. I would say whatever comes the cheapest is what it will get since it will only be used for road trips. If I can find cheap 17's I think newer f150's come with a metric version of a 31" stock.
