Ive had the explorer, HO, and comp xe258 in mine and its worth the extra bucks to get the comp. The explorer and ho cams are trying to be great cams but just seem to be dogs with low or high end power, with 1.7rr at least. The comp xe258 gets allot more air in them cylinderes, lots of tq...over 300ftlbs from 2200-5500rpm, and a flat hp curve that tapers off around 5500rpm also. Factory smooth ide. Just make sure you give it a very good valvetrain with its high lift and short durations fast ramp rates. Its also a great cam for nitrous and power adders if one finds himself getting sucked into that power addiction.
Finally have an on the books porting/custom fab business!

The F-150 cam is absolute junk for spinning the engine anywhere past 3500-4000.
      This definitely^^^^^^

And get the GT40 stuff like mrltd said. All of this should be affordable and make decent power.
