after the HIDs went in i added a PA system to the car ans worked on putting strobe lights in the 4 corners. so i stripped the tail lights which had already seen quite better days and sprayed metallic inside to help reflection. and then installed the LEDs

about halfway through the summer of 2012 a grinding noise developed. but i didnt pay much attention because my car still drove fine letting it go for close to 6 months probably. little did i know the right front wheel bearing was fried and had my wheel hub cocked making it burn through my brake pad and put a nasty grove in my rotor. after all was said and done.. i dropped about 125 bucks to get brand new timken inner and outter bearings, new rotors, and new pads, and since EVERYONE uses red calipers i covered mine in ford blue engine enamel to take the heat.. and they look really nice behind the rims

unfortunately..... about a month ago.. i was stopped at a light in mid febuary. no snow.. just stopped at a light and i was rear ended by a girl in a 2005 malibu going 30. here car was totalled and actually caught on fire. which a friend i was with put out with snow LOL.

but after all of this, my bumper was pushed in a good 5 inches on the pass. side.. the same side that had previously been. i was left with a VERY minor bent bumper a trunk that needed aligned, bent chrome and hairline cracked tail lights. after argueing with insurance, my car was valued at 1500 and given a totalled title because of its age.. i managed to get a 2100 check out of them and not taking a rental.

about a week ago today i took it in to a shop expecting some bad news.. the stripped the back did some measurments, and turns out my frame is perfectly straight but the body had a slight buckle to it which they fixed as good as possible. along with a spot on the drivers side that was there when i bought the car.. no paint and no parts were replaced due to my base marquis tailights being extremely hard to find. and i was amazed to find that i owe him $332.00 for the work.. i am so happy. im currently waiting for my check and will go to get the car monday. when shes back home.. i have to find the taillights and license plate holder, a new bumper and get some minor paint work done.

with the extra money ill have left over, im get a set of headers for it and a small spoiler that was on the 69-71 Eliminators to add some flair to the back. the only issue im gonna have is finding tail lights. all i can find is grand marquis. so i may have to settle for that.

so that is my story of my Merc, its not too spectacular but i have a few plans and will post when i do other things

@tjc thanks.. i picked the rims up from Summit Racing for around 800 by the time i bought lugs.. and the tires are from my dads 84 CV Wag.. hes got outlaw II's on it 15x8's and wanted wider tires.. so i got the 8" tires when he upgrade to 9 or 10 w/e he has now..

i do.. that started as a result of an exhaust leak from the original exhaust. the smaller like 1/4 pipe or what ever that went through the emissions and into the head was leaking and was patched by a GARDEN HOSE!!!.. no idea how that even worked.. so i stripped it all out even the emissions garbage.. who needs an ozone anyway.. :3 i hacked the exhaust off right before the cats.. and threw an elbow on and bolted it.. then used the straight section from 2 used Y pipes (one from the Merc and one from the LTD) into 2 thrush glasspacks that stop uner the back seat... its a very ghetto rigged setup and not to mention the leaks are back mainly because of the clamps :/ but it sounds pretty cool... but when i get the car back monday im taking it all off including manifolds and prep for the 5.0 headers im ordering.. then gonna throw the glasspacks back on and pipe it out the side.. and WELD it all this time.. haha so yea i do have exhaust mods but it VERY mediocre and leaks.. so im fixing that over the next week or so

thanks marquisman.. most of people my age question what i put so much effort into a brick.. so its nice to see fello people who appreciate my work.. i will say right now i know my way around a cars electrical and stereo system more than an engine.. but im getting there after all.. all the work ive done has been my own

thnx 85 crown.. i had no idea the slicktops were so sought after.. my dad found this car for me in the indianaAutoRV book when i trying to find an "economy" car.. haha.. but hey its better than the 15mpg from my LTD.. this little 255 gets me close to 20.. im a very conservative driver.. i hate speed.. id rather cruise
