    anyone ever turbo'd a box?

    thinkin possibly after the five-oh maybe gettin a turbo... sounds ricer-ish i know.. but i dont have cash to throw at a performance engine

    Why would that sound ricerish?

    I would strongly recommend setting some realistic goals first.

    What exactly do you want to do?

        LOL ricers. I started out designing turbos before ricers existed before asians even made turbos. I think of indy cars, over the road trucks, Auburns, generator sets, Army tanks,

            1985 LTD Crown Victoria - Currently restoring after she caught fire! CFI to SEFI to Carb swap, all custom wiring, Duraspark 2 ignition, Motorcraft 2100 Carb, slicktop, Shorty headers dumped before rear axle, 140 Speedo, 3G alt, And currently building an engine for her.

            2000 Lincoln Town Car Signature Series - 165XXX, PI intake swap , 30 MPG Easy on the Highway, All options except dual exhaust. Currently looking for 2 front seats: Heated, Memory, and Light Graphite color!!

                would be pretty cool, but like pantera said I would get your 302 and get it running first. When you go 302 will you be staying carbed or going Fuel injection? To me it seems that your merc is your daily driver so if it was me I'd go SEFI

                  i HATE.... yes HATE EFI.. on any car.. sure it starts easy and modular motors have longer life and all... but carbed is just so simple... i hate all teh electronics and computers and shit you gotta deal with. because is you change one thing you gotta change a sensor to go with it.

                  on a side note.. this is all a loooong ways away. i plan to get the 5.0 first which i dont even have. .. and before i rebuild the Merc.. my LTD needs built so i can have a car when i do the Merc..

                  i was just thinking outloud about misc. ideas

                        I've had a '79 Stang Pace Car turbo, and 2 '84 RS Capri turbos, No rice there.....

                        Do you know what a custom turbo kit costs?

                        The more powerful the base engine is, the more a turbo will increase it. I would concentrate on a stout, forged internal engine, then think about a turbo later ...just my

                            SEFI>Carbs

                            Ha JK, if you like carbs go for it. I get into that argument with my dad all the time because he wanted me to go from CFI to a carb and I like SEFI. Sure carbs are simple but EFI's not all that complicated once you work with it a few times. But regardless, I don't mean to get an argument going and putting in a carbed 302 will definitely be the easier route for you since you already have a carb
