    help picking Fuel Pump volume

    Hi,

I found a nice pump volume and injector size calculator on another ford site.

    http://www.eastcoastrollingthunder.c...r/finject1.htm

So for example a 300 hp turbo or supercharged setup needs a 190 lph pump.

    A 250hp NA setup needs a 110lph pump.

I guess my mostly stock ho might be 225 hp which still calls for a 110 lph pump.

So my question is what is the down side of putting in a 190 lph pump at this time? Will it blow regulators and lines all the time? Or.....?

    Thanks,
    Jay

it's a return style system, any excess is pumped back into the tank.

A 190 is fine and if you do anything in the future you'll be well protected. I think stock is like ~80lph IIRC.

Like they said its a return style system. Any excess just goes straight back in the tank. I ran a 255lph on a stock H.O. in plans for a future turbo setup. No ill effects at all. Other than a little noisy from behind the car.

I've been running the same 110lph pump since 1995...In 3 different cars, no fuel issues. 190 will be fine. Just don't run the tank lower than 1/4 or you will burn the pump up quickly.

You are saying the high volume pump requires more cooling? That would make sense.

Yes, I never let mine get below 1/4 tank with the 255 just to be safe.

Exactly. The panther cars have horrible fuel starvation, fuel starvation will burn the pump up. Heck, my car has to be 1/2 tank to autocross....
