I've also used hooker headers. With no problems, other than they where equal length shorties so it sucked changing plugs.

Yeah, someone like ME! I was just planning on hitting up the yards this weekend looking for a pair. PM sent, let me know what's up.

You've actually got the best factory exhaust parts ever made for these cars already. they really aren't your restriction. The rest of the exhaust on the other hand, well, it leaves rather something to be desired. The small over-axle pipe doesn't do you any favors. The stock intake is also a serious restriction, and that stupid plastic "fake MAF" thing between the air box and the hose is a hinderance. Upgrading the upper intake and throttle body to HO parts, using the air tube and air box from a later CVPI, and putting better mufflers and tailpipes will help quite a bit. Even at that point, the stock 90 logs aren't going to hurt you any.

Well that makes me rethink my options!?! What model and year come equipped with HO motors. I'm new to fords altogether. Is the 5.0 a single or dual cam engine? Do you have any recommendations for them?

Mustangs and Lincoln Mark VII are the most practical HO donors. Some Tbirds and Cougers had them too, but those used a stupid intake and the timing cover needs to be changed for it to be useful.

Single cam, in the middle of the block. The heads are fairly crap, and the pistons aren't special. If you're looking at the cam, the heads need to go in favor of something better, though with the stock pistons you're limited as to what you can do with the cam before the pistons start smashing the valves. No valve reliefs, just a big dish in the middle. HO cam works fine, but its somewhat unknown exactly what the limit is with the non-HO pistons. Lots of options with heads, but a lot of it depends what you want to do as far as the engine management goes. The easiest swap is a stock HO motor using a Mark VII ECM. It all just plugs together and works. Get much outside of that, and you're looking at doing a mass air conversion. Not overly difficult, but its something else to deal with. Also possibly needs a tune, depending on the specifics.
