Motor access hatch. Hmmm??? I didn't see anything that would strike me as an access hatch when I was looking at the 83. It appeared to be a normal headliner with everything concealed. When I ripped the headliner down I could see the main "case" that the glass slides back into and the bracketry that bolts into the roofline. Pretty nice setup. Take a look at these photos below and let me know what you think...

Its possible that the Towncar didn't get the access hatch. I really don't know much about the moonroofs in them. Don't have one in my car, and honestly haven't really ever wanted one in anything so its not something I spent any time looking at.

I'm leaving it a hardtop. Definitely. This thing looks like a muscle car from the back. Gonna repaint it white, tint the windows, sparkle up the stainless and call it a day.

On one of my towncars, the access hole is in back of the rear view mirror through the headliner. There is suppose to be a detachable hand crank (which I have never seen) to wind the moonroof closed if the motor fails. When my TC headliner was redone, the shop lost the plastic plug to the access hole. The shop covered it up and of course, did not tell me. I have a spare moonroof with case in my garage which could be for sale.
