    Is the Catalytic converters on a 1989 grand marquis bolt on or is it welded?

    My car's catalytic converter seems to be bad it just smells like raw oil and i want to pretty much get the most out of my gas mileage

      original should be bolt on at the manifold and bolt on at the H/Y pipe. direct bolt on is available from Walker, Magnaflow, etc.

          yeah... if done at a shop, they usually get welded south of the collector flange (as all of mine are now).

            ah, it could also have to do with my 351, single cat per side setup, fairly different from the 5.0 SEFI setup apparently.

              Maybe. Never seen a stock, original 351 setup.
