    1995 GM A/C Temps

Just curious. Checked the A/C temps in my '95 GM today during a 90 degree day with a hand held digital thermometer. Each vent was consistently between 48 and 52 degrees. Are these readings cold enough or is further research required. I know these things may be subjective but was curious as to your thoughts. Thanks....Bobby

P.S. Hope the hand held is accurate and I did no other testing.

Guess I am spoiled because the A/C in my '87 GM is like living in a meat locker! That one I converted and the '95 is standard for R134a. If all else fails I can always do a pressure check and see what the numbers have to say. The heater core is bypassed so can't do much to moderate the A/C but turn the fan speed down. Should check my '87 for temps but it sure does feel colder....

well, if you were getting ~50F parked in the driveway, you can expect it will get colder while driving, especially if the fan clutch is a bit weak. If that was driving, I'd probably want to see vent temps closer to 40 but I tend to like the deep freeze thing myself.

Those were driveway readings. Agreed it would be nice to get "on the road" readings.

Does your '87 still have original R12?

No, I converted it over to R134a. It has been cold with both.

Your having 90 degree days ??
I prefer 40 degrees however with R134 a 40 degree drop is good sitting in the driveway.

My 04 is noticeably colder when moving... think most cars are that way.

I need to take it out for longer drives to really tell. It is parked in my driveway so it takes time just to "move the hot air out". Used to take it out, once a week or more, for 30-40 mile drives but health issues have limited my driving.

my 93 is cold no matter what (at least out of the vents) even in 110F days.

the 88 needs a little more time due to the piss poor box ductwork and dumping a lot of the cold air on my feet, but that one is pretty cold too. The lincoln will freeze your ass just as good as the 93 if not better.

                        all are 134a now.

I see the temps out of the vents around 36-42 degrees when A/C has been running for a while. Feels great to be frozen in your car on a hot day! Definitely noticed better idle temperatures now that I have electric fans in the Vic. I haven't checked the temps in the Grand Marquis as it has a leak somewhere and I'm too lazy to determine from where...
