Thanks, glad I got some time off work

Took a bit of a break today and just did some small stuff, I put the throttle body together so it will work on the drivers side.

I guess some more research should have been done by me before hand.
I thought that I could just put the mechanical temp gauge in the front passenger side(the pic above has the adapter already installed), reading other threads here it appears I was wrong but I can put it on the front drivers side.
      Is this correct?

From what I've read here, it looks like I can use the 3/8 NPT port on the drivers side front that would normally have a 1 wire sensor in it, and just not have that sensor.

On the stock intake that is(was) on the car now there is a 2 wire sensor on the front passenger side, a 2 wire sensor on the #5 intake and a 1 wire sensor on the front of the drivers side.
I have seen that when using the Explorer intake, if there is a flat spot on the #5 intake, it can be drilled and tapped, I have an intake with that flat spot, do I need to drill and tap or can I be without that sensor as well?

If anyone can help, please do. I think I am in over my head

I was looking around last night and some of the threads that I found which could have helped with pictures were older and the pictures are now missing.

You need to drill and tap the #5 runner for the IAT

The 1 wire sensor in the LF of the intake is just for the replace engine light, you can put your temp gauge sender there.

If you need to, you can turn that air supply elbow (on the throttle body) around if you're careful.

Wide ratio AOD, 2400 converter with a 3.08 one tire fire out back. Car is less slow now. Then there's the '92 Beater. Dual 2.25" exhaust with shiny tips. Rumbles nice. Super slow. Burns oil too.

should be 3/8" NPT for the IAT sensor, yes. Hopefully the lower intake isn't bolted down yet. Its a bit less scary drilling into one when its not raining metal chips inside the motor. I did mine with the intake on, but its not my first choice. If its already down though, hold a shop vac over the #5 runner and let that do what it can to suck the chips out vs letting them all fall inside the motor. Use lots of oil too, aluminum is a pain in the ass to cut just because it likes to wad up and jam the drill bits and the tap flutes.

The intake was bolted down, now it's out again. I'll make the new hole tomorrow.
I'm gonna replace my rear springs and swap out the governor tomorrow, unbolt the motor and put the car back on the ground to pull the engine out.

What's the name of that sensor in your hand? I know it's a coolant temp sensor of some sort. The one on my car is pretty crusty and it wouldn't be a bad idea to replace it.

No coolant. It measures the incoming air. ACT Air charge Temperature sensor.

it can. the AOD uses MercIII, though MercV would probably be better.
