Those air boxes are notorious for warping and not closing right. If you notice, the tabs on the lids of the newer ones are more of a j hook so it pulls the box together as it closes, where these old ones just slide in.
Some guys run a piece of all thread threw the box and a nut on both ends to pull it together, but I don't don't care enough to do that.

when I opened my airbox on the Towncar, the edge of the filter gasket was sliced off. I guess I got it aligned messed up. Its together nicely now, but you have to futz with it to get it there. Mine is extra worse with that wagon brace laying across it and the trans and PS cooler plumbing in the way. The brace has to come out to get the filter out and then you have to sneak it around the extra pipes.

I need to come around here more often. I was wondering what was going on with the Aero in your sig, knew it couldn't be the old '92 cuz its got the stupid Aero nose on it. Looks good Zach! Wanna come patch my Town Car's frame next? :p

As for those airboxes warping..I have 4 of them. The only one that closes properly is the one with 1/2 of the bottom cut off of it. Which is kind of annoying. With my exhaust in its current configuration, it sounds much cleaner without the intake noise. But none of my complete airboxes will seal. Every time I swap one in, the car starts running like shit and sure enough, there is a trace of dust in the lid and all over the MAF.

It's somewhat odd, I haven't driven a box on the road in half a year now. This things treated me well so far. It's a slippery slope to make sure I don't start modifying it.

I wasn't gonna do any mods to my Aero. But now it has cop shocks and sway bar, an HPP bar in the back, Turbines with RWL tires, and a 900 watt stereo, to name a few. I still want duals on it, with some shiny tips.

Wide ratio AOD, 2400 converter with a 3.08 one tire fire out back. Car is less slow now. Then there's the '92 Beater. Dual 2.25" exhaust with shiny tips. Rumbles nice. Super slow. Burns oil too.

You do have that nice supercharged 5.0. Seems a fitting thing to put in there. Solves all of those 4.6 issues in one nice package

A 5.0 may end up in here eventually, but not for any sane reason. For now the modular contraption has to unfortunately stay.

                    And speaking of turbines...
Also, oil change, greased the front end up, and new front shocks.

Bu-bu-but them turbines with the old LTD CV center caps! Such an epic look on the aeros; it's a shame they discontinued those wheels. Last year to get turbines was '94 IIRC.
