    Yes that is what I mean by giving the rubber air springs a rest, releasing a bit of pressure. It doesn't let all the air out, just a small amount.

    I think the real advantage to the solenoids on the bags is that the car would not tend to lean the wrong way on long turns as it can with the older design.

      On the ones with proper air springs, they do a final trim about an hour after the key turns off. Usually its to let some air out. The air shock system in the 80s doesn't do that as far as I know, but its not as sensitive and its somewhat prone to leakage because it has no solenoid valves to seal the air in the shock. Its definitely not as advanced. I wanted to do air springs in my 86, but the frame shape at the top where the springs go doesn't allow me to actually put them in there. Not much to be done unless I want to remove the body from the frame and modify it, or frame swap it. Answer to all this is "no". I actually do have a complete system with the harness pared down to have just the wires required for air suspension. I've even tested it on the floor of the garage, it would be drop-in for an aero with coil springs.
