I'd drive it. I went over 90 miles with a BROKEN spark plug on #7.

When I had coil misfire issues, it would show up under specific low RPM conditions, and it would go away when I sped up. Is yours predictable enough that you can try to keep it from happening?

It is only noticeable under acceleration. If I kept in lower gear I never feel it

Just went to pull the COP and noticed the hold die bolt was cracked and had been repaired before. Could that be an issue?

I swapped cops 6and 7. How long should it take to register on the computer?

Another thing to watch for is loose plugs/stripped threads. Some years had short spark plug threads and would shoot plugs. I had a fun experience with that. Otherwise, replace with motorcraft platinum, put new boots and springs on your COPs and you're good to go.

85Merc, shoot some PB blaster or whatever penetrating oil in there and wrench that sucker out, you're not likely to break it off, although you DO want to make sure the threads are good afterward. I presume you have the proper tool for the job? Vatozone sells a one-piece socket/wobble extension that is just right for these things. Best 11 bucks I ever spent.

Ford knew of the thread striping and "shooting" spark plugs so they issued a TSB along with some sort of kit for repairs. Not sure of the years and models though.

as long as it has the same plug... should be good. Also, those clips like to break, if that happens... a couple of zip ties (one around the coil and the other between that ziptie and between the wires on the clip) will hold it on. I've had to do that with 3 of mine already. 2001 harness being used for my swap IIRC.
