360 in the truck? That intake design with half the valve cover sealing area on the intake and half on the head is pretty distinctive. Honestly always though it was damned stupid. The oil always seems to dribble at the point where they meet.

Yes the tucks got a 360 that I wish was a 390. Enough of selling the car talk. I’ve got a little project going with it Now

Replacing the brake booster and master cylinder next in hopes of fixing a massive vac leak.

That engine looks so much cleaner than mine did before I redid the top end gaskets.

Valve cover gaskets is why it’s a part. They were dripping so bad down the pack and on even on the manifold making a stinky smell when I got out of the car.

Doing the booster while I have room made. It’s gotten so bad the idle was high and it would drop down when I put my foot on the brake.

Just got off work and back at the car. Booster is coming along nicely bud I don’t know how to unhook the push rod from the pedal. Looks like the brake lights are attached to it also.

                Any tips on removal?

May also want to look at the back of the lower intake as a leak source. Its a pretty common one and you're most of the way there already.

I looked at it. It’s probably leaking as well but not too bad cause the top of the trans is dry. I’m just not that confident in my skills in sealing it up. I just did my 360 and I just started noticing small leaks again at the back 🤬

They're pretty easy, but I would only suggest using the PermaDry gaskets. They have a nice molded silicone rubber end wall piece that stays nicely in place. If you use 4 long bolts of the right thread to screw into the engine and cut the heads off to use as guide pins, they do a nice job of keeping the gaskets in position and guiding the lower into place without risking anything moving around.

I may go back and do it. It needs it for sure. It’s not hard to get back there. I got it all back together last Sunday and have driven it to work a couple times this week.

The new master and booster made a huge difference. The hiss in the cab is gone. I didn’t realize how bad that vacuum leak was affecting how she was running. Its very smooth and low at idle.
