    88 MGM driveshaft upgrade (aluminum)

Just a quick question I have a 88 grand Marquis just wanted to know if any one know what years the aluminum driveshaft I would need close to direct fit.

    90-91 mgm/cv
1990 MGM: $50 E7 heads, HO cam, Holley SysteMAX lower intake, HO upper intake with an Explorer TB. LSC ECM. Lincoln logs into stock dual exhaust. K&N drop in air filter. Wide ratio AOD, 2400 converter with a 3.08 one tire fire out back. Car is less slow now. Then there's the '92 Beater. Dual 2.25" exhaust with shiny tips. Rumbles nice. Super slow. Burns oil too.

You would need the 90/91 axle flange aswell, and I believe only 91's had the aluminum shaft.

A bastard block 92 Vic or Marq would have one too.

So I would need the shaft from a 91 and flange form a 91 right.

My '90 came with an aluminum shaft, as did another '90 in a local boneyard. My bastard '92 has a nice rusty steel shaft with that weird balancer looking gizmo on the front.

Ok, wasn't sure if the 90's had them, 91's all should in theory, come to think of it, my first 92 bastard block had a aluminum shaft without the damper, and my other 92 bastard block has a steel shaft.
Probably no rhyme or reason to them.

I used a 90's police interceptor's aluminum driveshaft (i think it was a 98) and my original driveshafts yoke and flange, you might need a conversion u-joint if you go that route, I didn't because mine already had bigger u-joints, presumably because mine was a police car.

This option will make it a lot easier to find a shaft, but you do have to change the yoke and flanges, which is honestly not a big deal if you're already swapping shafts.

I'll have to double check if my 90 GM has the aluminum shaft. Mine is a late model year car (manufacture date of March, 1990) and has things like the mini-starter.
