    Default 87 CVCP speaker Q

    Are the dash speakers 5" or 5.25?

    5" with 3 screws mounting them. I have speaker adapters for sale that will adapt 4" speakers to fit the 5 inch holes. $10 shipped to you or $5 at SF.

    I have a set of those adapters, mighty convenient.

    It's been a long time but I put a pair of 5.25 in the dash of box my boxes. I don't remember cutting anything, but not sure about how the mounting holes lined up.

    Jason, Just wondering cause we got some 5.25 @ work...

    The Blue car tranny reinstall got pushed back again, audio will come much further down the road.

    I think you can get away with 5.25 shallow mount speakers if you can figure out a way to drill into the dash to get the screws in. Short of taking the dash or the windshield out, I don't see that happening.

    With my Town Car I think I put 5.25" speakers in there but I had to drill holes & use those speed clip things. Also, the metal bracket which holds the speakers had to come out. Not sure if Mercurys or Fords have a similar bracket.
