I've been pretty satisfied with my XE258 but my heads are rather less than what you're going with.

Both John and I have had good luck with the 270 in multiple similar engine builds. I’m sure Lunati and other cam companies have winners too. That’s just our only real world experience. The XE264 could also be a little more tame, but we don’t really have any low end torque issues with the 270

REALLY GO TIME! Getting stuff lined up for finally putting everything together on Halloween weekend into Voting Week. Time change means we get an extra hour of sleep or working.

What are a list of engine sensors I need? I mean the shop built the engine but I didn't get a ton of pictures so I don't know what a full complement of engine sensors that are needed consists of. I'm fine with spending a bit and having spares: Oil pressure, temp, thermostat, EGR? I think the cobra intake has internal egr passages, I just don't remember buying one yet and would appreciate any help in choosing one if someone has the time to look around or has a good recommendation.

Also, Scott, the number I have for you no longer works, and I'd like to talk to you sometime soon, plus it will be helpful for letting you know when we might be getting there.

And I need to see about getting the mustang computer programmed for the setup the engine currently has so I'm messaging 86VickyLX to see if and when he can do that.

Plan so far is to get the cars towed to Scott's, and get the seized engine out and new one in so it can be tuned, then strip the rear end out of the Arizona wagon and swap the gas tank and rear and everything over from the parts wagon so it can be up and running for tuning. Then remove and swap over the front suspension and everything, and then pull the seats/carpet last to replace them.

full list of sensors that I can think of
            2 oxygen sensors
            ECT
            ACT
            coolant temp / idiot light
            oil pressure / idiot light
EGR position (on the egr valve)
            distributor pickup

thats really it. Not much on these old things. If you are using an oil pressure gauge, you need the extension. The gauge sender is much larger than the idiot light switch and needs to be moved out for clearance. Truck or Mustang part works, looks like a hex bar with a threaded bit at one end and a tapped hole at an angle at the other end.

ECT goes into either the pipe that runs under the intake or the hose fitting in the front corner, depending what year parts. 86 was the pipe.

ACT goes into the lower intake. Not all of them have the hole tapped. I'm being lazy and not looking for pics, but if you don't have a threaded hole between the #5 and #6 injectors, that needs doing. Early intakes have a flat boss right there where it needs to be drilled and tapped. 3/8 NPT, and whatever size drill bit is for that. Some oddball size but I do not remember exactly. The boss went away on Explorer lowers around 1998. Those are thin and its probably not a good idea to try and tap it. I think the ECM can be tuned to expect the ACT in a different location but don't quote me on that. Later stuff has it in the air cleaner box. Even later stuff has it built into the MAF.

3/8 npt used 37/64 drill bit...

I did one in the non bossed lower. No issues but you certainly have more meat on the bossed intakes.

I got the bigger but not stupid big cam, will have to check the box as I can't seem to find the picture of the engine paperwork right this second. I had to order a set of 30lb injectors today, the ones I picked up on CL are probably 80lb/hr and they came with a MAF sensor but I'm not even trying to use that either. $$$. Almost $$$$.

Online shopping and certain things won't ship in time or I'd have to send them to Scott's and pray they weren't delayed. Thank goodness for Summit Racing. I'm sure we'll have to pick up a ton of stuff locally too (I didn't buy any heater hoses yet, radiator hoses yes, but they should all just get done as the engine goes in).

I took my nephew out with me to help this weekend and the parts wagon is stripped and done (and hopefully gone sometime this week). We cut the body down, front suspension parts off, rear axle removed, gas tank and filler neck etc. We came back home with the steering column, steering shaft, steering box (factory?/non upgraded), transmission cooler lines and all sorts of other parts that are NLA including the dash. We got the engine out of the Arizona wagon and wait until you see the pics!

And there's something Scott said he'd never seen in years: an intact, rust free air-injection tube and catalytic converters. Hopefully I can sell it for more than the Cats are worth, somebody's gotta need it somewhere.

I already had plug wires, cap, rotor, water pump, battery cables, oxygen sensors, 30lb Accel Injectors, calibrated MAF sensor to match), Air Temp Sensor, Oil pressure sensor, Coolant Temp sender, BBK 70mm throttle body, EGR valve position sensor, belts

Stuff just ordered: Wagon tank and straps, 4 Gas-A-Just shocks, rear variable rate cargo coils, thermostat, heater hoses, metric brake line conversion fittings, pcv valve grommet and screen, quick connect trans fittings, Energy Suspension 4.3150R for '92-'97 CV/GM (these are NLA for awhile, I got the last set from amazon, black isn't available, and if you order from Summit Racing, maybe they will ship Dec 21-24)

Stuff I need to get: Crank Pulley, A/C compressor bracket, front springs, ABS brake hoses front and rear, rear rotors, calipers and pads, Fuel pump and fuel filter, end links, stabilizer bar bushings, lower ball joints, tie rod ends and sleeves, maybe compresser, condenser, air drier, a/c lines etc

                            Stuff that needs figured out:
                            1. Mark VII/Mustang throttle cable? The TV cable snapped the plastic thing on the intake end, but I think John said if it can mount straight maybe it's okay
                            2. Valve covers/Intake spacer/cowl induction hood. I got tall valve covers, and the roller rockers are adjustable style, and I don't know how much room I need in there for the .500 lift 270 cam. They make some 1 3/8" valve cover spacers or something that might make regular short valve covers fit, but I don't know if that just turns them into tall valve covers like what I have. I have working tripminder with a9p. works for me. many argue its not accurate. I have done a couple tests and its close enough to call it working for me.

works, but the accuracy depends on how well the injector parameters are programmed. There is something about injector slop at high and low load. The MAF curve also needs to be right.
