    88-91 Grand Marquis Interchangability?

Will a 88-91 Grand Marquis grille fit on a 87' Grand Marquis? Thanks

Question 2... Unrelated: I am looking to fit the '87 Grand Marquis with a set of 20" custom wheels. What do I need to know to go about doing that? I think the rim width is 8" or 8.5" and the tires I am looking at are 245/40. Feedback and advice is appreciated.

On the grille...no sir, not even close. You'd have to give the car a complete facelift to the newer header panel.

I have no thoughts on the wheels.

88-91 grille is not a direct fit. You can swap the header panel and front bumper if you like the 88-91 looks better. The hood and fenders are the same for all box Merc.

Tire height should be good. Bolt pattern is 5x4.5. Backspacing should be in the ballpark of 4.5-5inches on a 8 inch wheel. I ran a 7in wheel with 4.125in backspace no problems.

Maybe some spacers for the wheels. I have some mid 2000s gt rims on mine and needed spacers to make it fit right

wheels: if the offset isn't centered, you'll need spacers. Also, you'll probably be looking at 255/35-R20 tires. This will keep the speedo pretty close to accurate as the tire height is pretty much the same. 9 inch wide tires is about as wide as you can get before hitting fitment concerns and having to deal with lip rolling, so I think you're good there. Your biggest concern will be the mounting offset of the lug holes. As long as you get it to be centered, you should be good.

Thanks guys for the answers. I think i will skip the '88-91 grille. I'm not fan of the corner signal for that header panel. I do like the grille and the smaller black bumper indention. As for the wheels, I was going to buy a lug pattern adapter and the spacers is a good idea. What about the stub at the end of the wheel hub(I don't know what it is called specifically, it's right behind the front rim/wheel center cap when you pop it off). Thanks again

70.5 mm is the center bore size

Thanks Dan. Will the center bore cause any issues that I should be aware of?

Not if the rims are the same bore size. You can probably go bigger on the bore but i personally wouldnt. Theres always that debate on whether its good or not for the studs and safety and blah blah blah. You know how those things end up going. If youre buying them for a website they should say the bore size, if not then call and ask.

And for the spacers/adapters, i wouldnt worry too much about the center bore being too big. I have 2 in spacers on all 4 wheels and i haven't ran into any issues. I heard hubcentric spacers are better but i wouldnt know since i havent tried them.

20" are rims. Under 20 are wheels. Gangsta lingo.

16" is all you need. Enough to clear big brakes, not so much that there isn't still air in the tires.

Use hubcentric spacers. If you use lugcentric type, you run the risk of shearing the studs and the wheel falling off. Hubcenteric spacers utilize the center bore for the load like the factory hubs do.
