ClayBelt’s 2010 Mercury Grand Marquis, “The Douche”

When I first joined, The Douche had some questionable modifications, such as a single leaky glasspack, a partially wired set of subs, and a cone air filter. Since then, the list has changed to a better set of modifications.

    Performance:
-HPP rear sway bar (off a 1999 MGM)
-P71 air box and zip tube (off a 2005 CVPI)
    -235/60/R17 Cooper CS5 Grand Tourings
-HPP dual exhaust (off a 1997 MGM)
-Dodge Charger rims (shaved a good 30-40lb off the car’s weight)

    Appearence:
-20% window tint, front and rear
-Ford Blue engine cover (soon to be joined by the zip tube and air box)
    -White paint

    Sound:
    -2 stock door speakers
    -2 Dual 5x7” 4 way deco speakers
-2 Dual 10” 500W subwoofers with vented boxes
    -1 Boss 1100W amplifier

Those rims are a nice match. Does the uterus emblem come out of the middle so it can be replaced with something else?

The emblem does, I just am trying to figure out what emblem I would want to replace them with.

Filled the tank with ethanol free and disconnected my subs. Won’t have the car again until Nov. at least, and knowing my dad it won’t get driven.

Lucky you can get real gas where you are. No stations seem to exist anywhere around me. I'd actually like to know what I get for fuel economy with 100% gas.

This. E10 everywhere here... E15 becoming more prevalent too. E85 about as spotty as diesel as well.

Helps to live by the coast. It wasn’t cheap though, cost like $4/gallon

Dad drove the car today. He hadn’t driven it since I bought it. He hated the car then, couldn’t understand why I wanted what was basically a newer version of a car he owned in high school. Shot me a text after he got to work, said it felt like a whole nother car from the one he test drove with me in April. He liked the amount of “jump” it had, enjoyed the improved throttle response and lack of total roll (disclosure: he is not a great driver, I only installed the the sway bar so he would have a more difficult time screwing up around turns). Wonder what he would think if I ever got some improved rear gears in there...

It is sort of amazing how a few relatively minor mods can transform how these cars drive. Extra handy that a lot of the upgrade parts are factory bits from differently optioned vehicles that can be had for cheap in the junkyards.

Came home and did the suspension repairs that I needed to do at some point. All new front end links and all the bushings. Leaving this morning for Huntsville, we will see how that goes. Going to be snagging exhaust cutouts while I am up there.
