    87 Mgm needing help

Im going to repost from another forum because this gets more traffic

A few months ago and bought my buddys 87 mgm for 500 bucks to save it from the scrapper. Anyway, he tried turning it into a racecar and now Im in the process of returning it back to its former glory. There are too many issues to name right now but I really need some info.

Theres a black wire and a black/yellow striped wire by the alternator that were cut, what do they go to? Do these cars have the same vacuum tree on the upper intake as the mustang? Where do the egr cooler lines go to? And how does the throttle cable bracket bolt to the intake?

Any info would be much appreciated thanks.

Also can you guys posts some pics of around the engine bay especially vacuum routing, back of the upper intake manifold and if any of you guys are running ac with no smog pump, thanks.

The throttle cable bracket bolts to the EGR spacers studs down low.

The mustang vacuum tree (that screws into the underside of the upper intake) can work for you. It is just shaped a bit differently.

Ok it looks like Ill need to run back to the boneyard for the egr spacer. I have a mustang egr spacer and it has no provision to bolt the throttle bracket to. I bought a mustang intake and fuel rails thinking more items will be the same but theyre not.

Intake can be used but there is a bit more to it.

IS there a sticky on that?

I don't actually think there is.

You need the stock fuel rails. Mustang ones have connections in the wrong place. Stock engine will also need stock injectors.
          Lower intakes are the same
The upper intake bolts right in place, no worries.
The EGR spacer needs to be the stock one with the center bored out to match the size of the Mustang throttle body. If you've got a friend with a lathe or a mill, either will do the job. If you don't, see here:
          http://www.grandmarq.net/vb/showthre...boring-service

or if you live somewhat nearby, stop over sometime and I can chuck it up on the lathe. You will need to bring adult beverages for this.

Mustang throttle body lever needs to be swapped with the stock one. A grinder and a quick tack weld will get you there.

Are the cut wires fairly thin? There is an oil pressure idiot light sender and a low oil level sender wire in that area. Don't recall the colors. Oil idiot sender is right above the oil filter, low oil level sensor is on the driver's side of the oil pan, easiest seen from under the car. The wire runs up next to the motor mount under the exhaust manifold and meets up with the rest of the harness somewhere under the stock air filter box. If that doesn't sound right, a pic might be a clue based on how the wires are routed.

Yea I found that out the hard way lol. I figured that out about the fuel rails after I set the upper intake in place lol. Oh well. I was going to get a lopo egr spacer and tb anyway but no I dont know anyone with a lathe.

Ill post a pic when I can, the wires are in the same loom as the ones for the alternator.
