How to Convert to LED Running lights with LCM bypass

I want to credit Justbob on MM.net for telling me what wires to bypass.

On the 03 GM/CV/MM it is the Wh/Rd which provides fused power to the LCM for Turns & flashers.
The LCM functions as a flasher.
The LB exits the LCM with power that is pulsed.
The LCM also monitors power consumption and provides hyperflash to let you know a bulb is out. This is why it needs to be bypassed.

here is the diagram for an 03 CV/GM/MM

You can just cut the wires anywhere between the multifunction switch and connect them to an electronic flasher.

Since this car is a lowish mile Marauder I wanted to keep the harness intact. Scrounged a male and female connector from a random Continental side marker. This is a 4 wire with round m/f contacts. There are many of these types of connectors on fords in addition to side markers. I believe you could use O2 sensors, temp sensors, ABS speed sensors etc.

Sly told me you pull the red bar in the connector housing and then release the tiny tabs which hold the contacts in the connectors.

Here is the female connector with male contacts mated to a relay block which can hold a flasher. I hooked the flasher X terminal to hot. The L terminal is pulsed.

There are 3 square connectors on the back of the LCM. The one you need is on the top so the other two need to come out first. All the release tabs are depress not lift.
Removing the connectors and pulling the two wires and contacts out was a mild PITA. It could be worth removing the gas pedal but I believe you need to do the resynch if you have adjustable pedals.
Here you can see the plug with the 2 wire removed and installed in the "new" round connector with female contacts. The 2nd photos show the relay plugged in.

I neglected to take an after photo but with the LCM reconnected and the relay tie wrapped in place it all looks great under there.

BTW Sylvania and every vehicle bulb finder I looked at shows a wrong listing for the 03-4 Marauder front housing. Marauder has a 3157NAK and a 3156K for the cornering light. Listings show a 3157A & a 194 in error. This may be correct for a Cv or a GM IDK.

    The 3157A is a VLED "HIGH VISIBILITY AMBER 50 LED 3157 3157CK 3156" (#3157_50_HV_A)
    The 3156 is a VLED "5500K WHITE 50 LED 3156" (#3156_50_W_5.5K)
The 4 bulbs cost $102 with free 2 day delivery. I decided to sample these based on Elias's recommendation. They feel well made.

Taillights.Received & installed the Sylvania Zevo 3057R bulbs. The car calls for 3157K but I bought 3057R as the price was right. $25 on Ebay for 4 bulbs.
      These bulbs also appear sturdy.
      Pics With 1 side installed.
1st is running lights, 2nd is 4way flashers, 3rd is the LED 4way lighting up before the incandescent gets hot and emits more light.

Trunk/Luggage compartment light. I bought the Sylvania 6411 which the EBAy listing and many other listings show as compatible with the 211-2 the car calls for.
From the pic you can see this is not so. I guess i could have deformed the light fixture contacts to make it work but I did not.

Update. The turns started flashing slow and after prolonged use, like waiting to turn at a long light, took a nap in the off mode.

I went through my wiring bypass and swapped in a better (Standard Motor Products, made in Taiwan) Eflasher. Even worse now no 4-ways. So after chasing my tail, and front lights, I swapped in one original incandescent in each taillight. No problem now everything works like a champ. Baring the fact that 2 bulbs of the 6 required for turns and brakes are not LED.
Not overly happy with that but I am thinking about small resistors. Just enough draw to get the Eflashers to work. Smaller the better to keep waste heat down.

Each flasher requires a different amount of current to get it to work. So if I could find a flasher with a lower threshold that would be great but difficult to find.

Anyway apparently it is not hard to find EFlashers that have a low current requirement to operate. The one that I put in the car already was sold as suitable for LEDs but it is not which I can see now as the Amazon reviews built up.
So I have ordered another unit, on EBAY, which is a "United Pacific 90650" note it is a 2 pin plus it has a ground wire to make it functional with very low current draw. The CEC units are more common and cheaper but reportedly have a problem in that they continue to click for some time after the switch is cancelled.

May still need to resort to adjustable speed unit but I will see.

The $11 "United Pacific 90650" flasher I bought works fine but the speed is preset. Also the click is a bit soft for my taste. So pardon the old guy with his left blinker on in the fast lane.

BlackVic_P71 posted up this link to a grounded low current and adjustable flasher speed unit.

For the Reverse lights I used Antline 3157 bulbs which I found on Amazon. The callout is for 3156. All LEDS illuminate on these 3157 bulbs when used as reverse lights. I tried some other cheaper similar looking bulbs but they were not nearly as bright. I am happy with the "VLED" 3157A bulbs I have as front turns but I suspect these cheaper "antline" would be bright enough if used there.

CHMSL I replaced these bulbs with some very nice Sylvania Revo 921 bulbs. The cruise control started to malfunction. When cancelling a turn signal the cruise would drop out. Thankfully someone posted up the information that LEDS in this position can futz with cruise control. I would never have figured this out. Sure enough with incandescent bulbs back in cruise works fine. Another fellow posted he had the same results with a modern Camaro.
