First clue was the box on the driver side inner fender, which lead me to see the 100 amp alternator, and finally the gold line along the outside of the windshield in a later pic.
Never heard of that! Interesting option.

I have Insta-clear on both my 89 and 90 Colony Parks. In 89 one switch turns on both the Insta-clear windshield and the rear window de-icer. In 90 they have separate switches. WagonMan

Can you notice the grid or wires at all? Do they still work?

The windshield doesn't have a grid. There is a copper film in the glass that heats up when power is turned on. There are 3 hidden wires at the base of the windshield. The rear glass does have a grid. Yes they still work! WagonMan

A heated windshield would be absolutely lovely in Finland, too bad that's only really on Fords. And I'm not getting a damn Mondeo for just that.
Or a box for that matter.

Do aeros and whales have instaclear?

Sadly it was discontinued with the end of the Boxes in 1991.

Very nice. Even fully loaded, it’s a very simple car. I miss that simplicity in automobiles.

Here here. Pod cars are a dime a dozen and lack simplicity and orginiality.

That stearing wheel and cluster took me back to my manuel five speed escort, big whiff of nostalgia. Bet it sells for more than $3000.

Bound to be on derby guys radar. I suspect it may be a little crusty but maybe could be patched up.

Very cool, thanks for the pic of the switch, wagonman. I've only read about and seen the folklore of Instaclear from a distance. I am surprised that option didn't become more popular- especially by today.

This is for a wagon by the part number. I would have bought this when I added shoulder harnesses to the rear of my 88. But I didn't know it existed! Says 88-89 but I bet it works fine for earlier cars as well.

The unusual 2150 with AOD provision. Still available on RockAuto, but significantly more than this one.
