Engine dress up for the 4.6

Looking for suggestions on how to dress up the engine/underhood of my 2011. Its already really clean just wanting to make it more appealing. Would a kit for a mustang work? Not looking to make an all out show car , just something less stock for cars and coffee and cruise-ins. Thanks.

Trick flow makes aftermarket valve covers, some guys paint their valve covers/intake manifold/engine cover. Me personally, I have only painted the engine cover but plan to do valve covers eventually. The later ones like ours probably won’t do the mustang kits too well.

A giant box of fresh and Hot Crispy Cream donuts under the hood would make it look more appealing.

Lets face it Modern engine bays have plastic covers to hide the ugly parts under the cover. unless you go all out and spend a ton of money and countless hours hiding all the modern electronics, wiring, vac lines cables etc any custom work or parts you focus on will get lost in the sea of plastic crap under the hood and potentially make your engine bay look worse.

Since your engine bay is clean you could make what you do have look better by polishing any aluminum parts to a mirror finish ( but then you will be slave to those parts keeping them looking nice.

Looking at the billet dress up kit sold by American muscle for the 1999-2004 mustang. Consists of caps for power steering, brake reservoir, coolant and oil. Went to O'Reilly's website and cross referenced with replacement caps and looks like they are standard with several models and years. So I think it would work.

I did order a 4.6 high-performance emblem to go on the radiator cover and a Mercury head decal for the air filter top to get things started.

ClayBelt, What kind of paint and prep used on your cover? How did you mask it for two-tone? Looking to paint the V8 and ridges on mine. I have color match paint in white already.

I made sure the cover was clean of all dirt and oil and the like by washing it with dish soap and drying it with a fresh microfiber towel, then spray painted it with some engine paint I had lying around. Sprayed the gold engine paint onto a paper plate and used a cue tip to brush the gold onto the raised surfaces. Bit tedious and requires a steady hand to not screw up, but it worked well enough. Takes close inspection to see where I missed the ridge and hit the blue on accident.
