    I am glad you figured it out, I was pretty sure it had to be a compression issue based on the information you gave us.
    Now the fun can start if your going to try and save the car.

      Easiest/cheapest fix... just swap in a known good longblock. You can use anything from 93-2000 without mods. 92 is a weird year and may have the wrong transmission mount if it's an early car. 01+ will need the newer intake as well. You'll have to keep your oil pan and timing cover. The rest should be plug and play. 95-2000 are best options for just get it done. and should avoid I think it was 2001/2002 that had the weak timing guides, but taking off the timing cover, those are an easy replace.
