    Strange connector

My 1997 Marquis has a connector just hanging loose. It is right next to the alternator on the right side and comes off the wiring on the fuel rail. A small black 90 degree shaped connector. Any ideas? Thanks

does the oil pressure gauge work? The only connector I know on that side of the engine is for the oil pressure switch. Though I've never seen a 97 specifically, it may also be a ground wire for the fuel rail. Those mount on the fuel rail studs. Check it's resistance to ground (chassis/negative terminal on the battery) and if it's basically zero, then it's probably the fuel rail ground.
