Anyone replaced the pass rear head frost plug, 00 CV?

I just picked up a 2000 Crown vic with 58K on her. She needs the pass rear frost plug on the head replaced. Has anyone done one? How hard? Is pulling the motor necessary?

    Thanks

With most things, the best way to change those is remove the engine. If one failed, the others are probably in bad shape and ought to be changed. They only rot out when the coolant is very nasty. If it actually froze, I'd be even more concerned about internal block damage.

The other option is usually remove the trans, but I don't know if that will give quite enough access. Still won't get you to the ones on the side of the engine.

Agree on replacing all of them at once. If one is bad, others are not far behind. Make sure all the freeze plugs are of the same metal.

I agree. I gave the go ahead to have the shop fix it. He is yanking the engine and will check them all.

        Thanks for the info.
