    Cleaning Steering Gear

I'm thinking about cleaning the steering gear and painting it while the old lines are still attached to it. Is this a good idea; or a bad one?

nothing wrong with cleaning and painting it. worse could happen is a small leak could get worse, this said if cleaning it causes a leak to get larger it needed to be rebuilt anyways.

keep it plugged with the old lines. Don't need cleaner inside that thing.

Definitely leave the old lines attached while cleaning/painting.
