    For Sale: 1987 Plymouth Horizon

Firstly.. not sure where to put this.. so i picked The Dark Side. mods please move where you see fit.

Secondly.. this is NOT a car for someone who thinks its cute. its for a car guy who wants a solid good running daily but it is every bit of a resto-mod. lots of fixes and tweaks all over the car..

Thirdly.. im listing on here because i feel there are more actual "car" guys who would respect this car for what it is and be able to enjoy it vs someone buying it for parts on FB

So here is my 87 horizon. im the 3rd owner. ive owned it about 5 years. im selling it cause i need something more truck shaped, and more friendly with the cold weather. this car has been my daily for 4 years and has run great. i learned to drive a stick in it. but it needs carb tweaking and doesnt like to start in the winter. im running out of time and space for it. so ive decided to sell it to a good home. it was a solid car in my friends barn. originally his grandfathers, then became his dads daily. then went into the barn somewhere around 2004. its very clean for a horizon, i had it rustproofed and its also tinted with 15%. it has a carburated 2.2 with 5 speed manual and about 152k miles (miles go up daily) i replaced basically every wearable part on the car over the years. weeding out all the factory imperfections and 30 year old parts. gas tank, straps, brakes, park brake cables, steel shifter linkages, wheel bearings, cv axles, struts, bushings, mounts, turbo clutch, gaskets. there was an electrical issue so the ignition i bypassed and is all controlled by toggles. its been converted to a weber 32/36 carb and factory computer delete. theres plenty more to say, but if i still have your interest, then let me know and id be glad to send you more pics and info. id like to see it go to an appreciate owner who would play with it and enjoy it as i have. thanks for checking it out guys.

I had a couple of those in the late 80s. They did their job well. Easy on gas. I have seen exactly one on the road in Maine within the past few years. Yours seems to be in nice shape. Hope you sell it to someone who will appreciated it.
Every time I see one though, I remember a good friend of mine who died in one. Not the car's fault. My friend fell asleep going to Las Vegas. Drove off a cliff. Nothing would have saved him in that wreck.

My mom had something like that in the exact color, think it was badged an Omni. My brothers and I would often fight who got to sit on the driver's side as the passenger side had a hole in the floor board. Big puddles would drench whoever sat on the passenger side in the back. I once dropped a bowling ball out of that hole on the expressway. Oops.

These were called Talbot Horizon here, they were even manufactured in Finland.
My grandpa had an '84 with the 1.9l diesel. He bought it new and said to have put around 280 000 km on it.

Those cars had trouble starting in cold weather when they were new!

My mom had an 85 Charger bought new with the same engine. There were literally only two people who could get that thing started in the winter. My mom and me (at the ripe age of 8 or so).

Always thought one of these would be cool with an SRT-4 swap in it. Goofy little cars but kinda neat, even though i'm not a front-drive fan. I hope somebody buys this and loves it.

Personally I love driving the car, its fun. I put a larger diameter clutch h from the turbo model in it. 2 " exhaust from manifold back. Shes got a real unique sound and rips pretty good. Got me about 25mpg on mid grade. I know it's got more with a little carb tweaking but i need a turn key daily and this isnt it.

I wonder if there's a way to market this thing to the Regular Car Reviews fan base.

i watched that video. got a good chuckle. i know to the right person all the mods and overall cleanliness will make it a solid deal. basically i did all the little desirable OEM upgrades i learned about from Mopar land. Similar to what we'd do on our own boats here with FoMoCo stuff. not so much performance but rather tweaks to make it more reliable on a daily basis. thats why im not trying to sell to some guy wants a "5spd work car". its got a bunch of little one-off modifications, so the owner needs to know and understand how it all works together.
