Best Camshaft for more torque and better MPG

Hi there, engine in my 82TC definitely dies and I want to improve driving quality, my plan is pull out old flat tappet engine and rebuild roller cam engine (not HO I think) E7 heads, 2 barrel intake and carb, dual exhaust but I'm not sure what camshaft, some stock or aftermarket??? Car is not record breaker, only what I want is good MPG for long highway trips and more low end torque (or power) for driving on curly mountain roads. Thank you for your advices or ideas what can helps me. I've be grateful for every helpfull information but I'm limited in parts availability due to I!m located in Czech.

you could do a lot worse than an Explorer cam. Its got a power profile like the stock non-HO, but more of it. If you can get the GT40 heads, do it. They flow a lot better than E7 heads do.
