And if those prices were in Euros, imported and registered here in Finland. Every single one of those would be a pretty good deal.
Well atleast I only paid 4700€ for my barely running box...

It's all about perspective, ya know. Boxes are becoming classics.

Remember, they're relatively scarce where you are - not so much here. Yours is a different story. Imagine what one of these would cost at these prices after shipping to Finland!

Not dissing the car, just the ridiculous price! $2500 TOPS to a motivated buyer (unless he lucks up and finds the fool he's looking for!!!)

Well freight is about 2000-2500€ from the east coast, registration inspection and other fees plus tax (very low on an old, used car) would be under 1000€. By "old", I mean a box/older, whales have quite a bit more tax since 4.6l engine and muh emissions. I don't know if there are any deregistration fees over your side of the pond, but I have looked into importing.
Some people can make pretty good money importing classics, but importing something with little value here is completely pointless.
Box panthers are rare as fuck in Finland but that doesn't make them expensive or create a market for them. Nobody wants a box in Finland.
And yet, there are those people who think rare must mean expensive.

CORRECT. There are lots of examples of rarity not meaning desirability. I have a '69 Chrysler Newport convertible, one of 2,169 made (I mean of that particular model and body type for that year, not of the exact color, options etc .that most like to cite). Desireablility? I love it, but worth way less than $10K. Not a huge demand for them. Now perhaps if I shipped it to Finland.... I'm just kidding, I love it and wouldn't sell it for the world. Someone else can have it after I check out.

Just out of curiousity Arquemann, what kinds of old cars are popular in Finland besides old US cars?

I’d say the Merc wagon is a good car and priced accordingly. Someone somewhere got 6 kids and a wife and all that stimulus money piling up could swing it and have a place to haul the crew in a classic!

The Ford wagon has a cool factor to it. Never dug the duraweave or whatever upholstery that is. Both of mine have the cheaper vinyl which looks better IMO but I’d take the velour cloth over any of it.

It is in decent shape, I'll give it that.

Well, the american car scene is by far the biggest and most pronounced. Other stuff, ehh... Maybe european and british cars come next in line. Old Citroëns, Volvos, VWs, british sports cars and such. Old Mercs, Beemers, Opels a bit less so.

Like your Newport, big 70's yachts don't have much of a market here, though they are somewhat common. You could get 15k€ if you could get it here and sold.

Since box panthers aren't really desirable here, I could get into the american car scene somewhat cheap. Last of the "classic" yank cars with chrome bumpers and RWD and so on, still recogniseable by others as a yank car, I get that "yank wave" we got here. Plus it being rare, and not completely beat to shit, I don't seem like such a fledgling. A gateway car so to say. There are many other classic cars I really desire, but all you box-aficionados here got me to appreciate my car way more than I expected.

I think it's funny how popular US stuff is outside of US, but not within the US. Here, it's practically as if no one cares, you're practically sneered at if you're into this type or older US culture. Just try and tell someone you don't like animae lol..

                        But I don't like animae.

That '88 wagon has the same seats, same interior color even, as my '88 Country Squire. Mine had power windows, locks, and mirrors, and didn't have those pockets on the doors, but the rest of the interior options look the same.

I am quite attracted to the seats. Would love to have them.

I wonder if they were an option for 4/2 door cars as well. It just looks so old school.

Severe duty seats is what I've been told they are called. Good firm seats, easy to care for. Comfortable enough for me, I liked them.

I think it depends upon the age group, but yeah, box vics, wagons and GM's are not huge *anywhere* I think that's why I like them!

Is "animae" that wierd-@$$ Japanese animation with the huge eyes? That style started out as Japanese interpretation of "westerners", I'm surprised it's allowed to survive with the currently pervading "woke" culture! I do think it was more out of a fascination and obsession than of mockery, however. I'm no expert, but I think it started gaining worldwide popularity with "Speed Racer" back in the 1960's, which I hated!!!

Loved those Japanese monster movies, though!!! (still do)
