    visually tell a 351 from a 302 in a 94 E150

    A couple of friends bought a 94 Econoline Winnebago E150 conversion van. It has 240K miles on it so who knows what engine is in it now. He says it is an injected v8 so either a 302 or a 351 was available. I don't know which was originally there but that almost doesn't matter with all these years and miles on the thing.

    It's hard to see anything in that engine bay. I'd check the VIN. 8 digit. I don't know the 351 code for that. Probably an H or G. Might get lucky and it might say in the intake.

    If you can see it, where the timing cover water ports go on the block. 302 the cylinder head is right there at the water outlets. The 351 has a visible chunk of block between the head and water outlets.

        Look at the thermostat housing. If you can get a socket on both bolts easily, 351. If only the top one, 302.
