Is it worth the extra cost to go with aluminum rockers (over iron/steel/whatever) or is that just for the bling factor?
2011 Mustang GT Premium, MT82, Kona/Saddle, HIDs, 3.73s, 19s, hood/side stripes, UPR 1.5" springs with adjustable panhard bar, and UMI solid LCAs and relocation brackets.
1992 Explorer Eddie Bauer, slight lift, 34s, and A/C...
1979 Bronco Custom, 351M/C6/NP205, 4" lift, 35s, lots of fender trimming.

Basicaly all roller rockers are aluminum. There is a steel version but for their is little to no cost difference. These roller rockers are the same as what origianly came under these valve covers so I know they fit, I run a risk with other aftermarket versions weather steel or aluminum.

Have you tried the '87-'93 HO upper intake? Wouldn't it flow more air than the '94-'95 HO upper?

          '90 Mercury Grand Marquis GS
Baseline 5.0L numbers totally stock, 123 rwhp, 239 rwtq
          5.4L swap coming soon.

Aluminum is lighter than steel which will allow you to run slightly higer RPMs due to less mass in the valvetrain. The big money mackdaddy top end rockers are steel, but the enignes running these are runnign valve springs so stiff that they will snap a set of aluminum rockers. Come to think of it i cant think of any roller rockers that are made out of steel and dont cost more than 2 months pay, There are roller tiped stamped steel rockers though. they are not full roller rockers just roller tips.

Blaze, i hope for that price those rockers are new. I paid $150 for a set of used 1.72 Scorpions They run about $225 new (The Scorpions are regarded as being as good if not better than the Crane Gold rockers) Those Ford rockers are made by Crane.

                Good price then.

I need to replace the valve springs in my heads. have unknown milage on them. i get valve float above 5500RPM. have 2 sets of dual springs laying around. but not sure if i want to mess with them. The ehads im going to get come with 1.47" dual springs that handle .600" of lift.

I'm aiming for ~5,500 RPM redline so I can get good, low power. Anything above that on a 4,000lb station wagon is plain greedy. I do plan to upgrade my springs, though, because these on the engine are at 100,000ish miles and I don't trust worn springs. I'll swap when I do the roller rockers... what valve covers should I run with 1.7s?

The cast aluminum mustang valve covers will work if you cut the baffels out. i got my tall aluminum covers for $70 from summit. they have some fabricated covers for $160 now.

I would not recomend the V/Cs that I got. I got them because they are literaly my only choice. They are hard to find and expensive (for what they are) if you do.

My engine just crossed over 100,000 miles last week, that's why I went ahead and replaced the springs with a little upgrade.

Sorry, don't know why I didn't see that. The 86-93 HO intake is a different design. Mine is the right picture on the GMN banner. Note the curve in it. I would lose the curve if I went old school. Also, that would require me to do a crap load more work to un-convert the engine bay. Eventualy I will be going to the Cobra version of my intake like this.

I didn't know they were different parts. I'm using a "worked" Explorer intake in the 5.0L CV/GM/TC location. I hope people fall for it if I pop the hood.

FRPP makes an elbow to go on an early Cobra or Explorer intake for your setup.
