The Street Scoop I bought showed up.

The Street Scoop I bought for the LTD showed up today. I sat it on the stock 2V carb just to get an idea of how it's going to look. With my 4V intake and carb the scoop will sit somewhere around 4-6" higher then it is in these pics. I think it should look pretty cool sticking thru the hood.

You mean you don't want that on top of a 2bbl carb? Why not? Ohhhh you're holding out for the famed Variable Venturi carb. I get it.

It's going to look sweet, but are you going to pick up any hp or is it just for show? Any drag strips, chassis dynos, G-Tech Pro meters or some way to measure any improvements?

Since it will stick up out of the hood, it will be a very effective cold air intake, but it will also serve as a water/bug/dirt intake. But since it wont be driven daily it wont hurt. Ted, does that use any type of internal filter?

The scoop is mainly for looks. I was going to run the Boss 429 hoodscoop. But with my intake/carb/carb spacer setup the boss scoop wasn't tall enough. And having the carb and standard air cleaner sticking thru the hood(without a scoop covering it ) just didn't appeal to me. I've always like the looks of the street scoop with it's working butterflies. The main benefit is looks but it also acts as a cold air induction set up like Duce was saying. And at higher speeds you can also get some ram air effect on certain vehicles depending on how high the scoop sits above the hood.

Duce the scoop is held onto the carb using the mini air cleaner. You've got the scoop shell, mounting base(which is also the aircleaner base ), air filter and and air cleaner top. I wouldn't run a scoop without some kind of filter.

Oh yea they didn't nick name these scoops birdcatchers for nothing!!

Im thinking about either one like yours or the Hilborn style that is an open front with a mesh inside of it.

The whole reason I like this scoop is the working butterflies. It reminds me of the top fuel dragsters/funnycars. Plus it a little intimidating for the people in front of me at stop lights or in traffic.
