Cool Clacking when acclerating from stop

So, when I am at a stoplight idling for a minute, and then accelerate decently there is a "clacking" sound from the engine bay for a few seconds and then it goes away. I am thinking it is a lifter starved for oil, but do you guys have any ideas?

Thanks!

Check the timing. If its too far advanced it will ping, sounds kind of like a paint can being shaken.

There's also the possibility that you have a dead motor mount and the fan is hitting the shroud when the engine torques up. Have a look at the fan shroud and see if it looks like the fan has been hitting it anywhere.

I personally think you have one of these jammed into your fan belt somewhere:

When I had that symptom once, it turned out to be coming from a transmission that was slipping in a weird way. You'd probably know if it was coming from the driveline instead of the engine, though.
