just wanted to let you guys know I installed the p71 cluster then tested it It did not work the only thing that worked was the gas guadge when I hit the high beams the whole cluster went dark.
Over a year late - but sounds like the cluster wasn't actually from a '98.

If the shift indicator is like the older ones, you can just take the other cluster apart and pull the indicator and cable setup to transplant it. Done this on a few old style box gauge clusters. No idea if the clusters are a direct swap, but I'd imagine they are. Whats the difference on the police vs non-police clusters on a newer car, the speedo? I thought newer cars had a 120 or so speedo from the factory?
hey mangs I have a 98 p71 cluster that I pulled a few monthes back I'm planning to put it in my brothers 2002 crown victoria is it a direct fit?
Also is there a way to fix the transmission selector string I cut it by mestake when I pulled it out thanks guys
