Hey guys I as woundering is it possible to put 351 windsor m, or cleavland heads on a 302?

They pretty much bolt on, except you need special stepped bolts or washers, because of the size of the bolt holes in the heads (1/2" for 351W, 7/16" for 302)
cleavland heads....well....i think there IS a way...

Cleveland heads can go on a windsor...hence the saying "clevor". As far as i know you need to drill and tap different bolt holes in the block. Also you need a special intake for a windsor using cleveland heads.

You do not touch the block, only the heads. You can run an adapter or complete intake from Price Motorsports or another Clevor intake. I have a Boss 302 intake that I am going to run with Cleveland 4V heads and a Price adapter on a stroker 351W.

Eventually I'll be doing this as well, 351W heads on a 302, and the consensus I got was that those spacers really don't matter. Apparently the late model Explorer 302 had heads with bolt holes bored out to the larger 351w size and they were assembled from the factory with no spacers.

With a stock motor you would probably never have a problem. With a performance build, I would spend the couple of bucks and get the washers to more solidly locate the heads. Yes, the GT40 heads on the 96 Explorer motors had 1/2" holes and the 7/16 bolts did not use a stepped washer.
Remember the "hemi" mountain ford big block? Well what about a small ford hemi? just curious?
You must be talking about the Stroked Boss 9 based motors with the crescent chanbers machined into a hemi......
You can get 4valve heads for SB Ford, but it really isn't worth the cost and effort.

The SOHC 427 was not a mountain motor. It was 427 cubic inches. It had a single camshaft per cylinder head. It was Ford's only true hemi headed engine. It was deemed illegal for NASCAR because it was not a production engine, so they could not use it for stock car racing.

The Boss 9 had a crescent shaped chamber, not a true hemi shaped. For drag racing, they machined the chambers out to a full hemi style. 429 cubes ere used for NASCAR racing. There were mountain motors used in drag racing based on the Boss 9. Bob Glidden ran one as did other Pro Stock cars and cars in other classes and vehicles.
I cant find pics so I think he's right and it is a sohc. I still yhink that it would be kinda cool for a older small ford to be a sohc or dohc IF it is possible anyway.
