    will 1.7 RR meant for a 5.0 work with a 2.9?

    just wondering if you could take 6 of those roller rockers and put them on the older 2.9 V6 heads, I'm trying to figure out upgrades for this merkur scorpio im getting sometime soon

    No, they are completely different. Look up racerwalsh, they used to have 2.6/28/2.9L parts. The 4.0L might have some interchangable stuff.

      I had a question about 1.7RR...
      if I were to put 1.6RR on the intake valves and 1.7RR on the exhaust valves, would I gain more torque or is it a dumb idea?
      it was just a thought I had some time ago.

        It'd help, but I dunno how much. The exhaust side is the main problem with windsors.

          That is not unheard of in the chevy camp. Like Mike said, it will help since the exhaust ports are about half the size of the intake.

            So which is better for torque, the 1.6 intake + 1.7 exhaust combo, or a complete 1.7 conversion? On stock E5 heads that is.

              I would think that the complete 1.7 set (int and exh) certainly wouldn't hurt the torque curve any, if you are running a mild cam anyway. You are going to invest in 1.7 rockers for E5 heads? Doesn't sound like that is the best way to go about getting more torque to me.

                  my lincoln still needs some 1.7's, i swear that thing is fast as it is, its gets to 70 very quickly, and its shifting at 4000 rpm, it could do soo much better shifting at 5000. I reset the computer and i noticed it shifted at 4400 for a while, but then went back to 4000. hmm

                    Your shifting points have nothing to do with the ECM, as the tranny is not electronically controlled.

                      I thought the HO shift governer was supposed to shift at 4800?

                        that's prolly what it is...do you have an HO governer in that Lincoln?
                        is there any other Roller Rockers that fit 5.0's that are larger than 1.7 or 1.72?

                            even if they do it is not a good idea to go bigger than 1.72. when you use 1.72 rockers on a valvetrain designed for 1.6 you put more stress on everything

                              i just got a reading of 8.5 seconds from 0-60. i should take some more and average them though
